Major Memorized Transaction Issue

One of my employees memorized a transaction for 2001 instead of 2011 to post on a quarterly basis.  That night, every quarter posted a cash sale on the date through to 2011.  How can that happen when all those years are closed.  The posting period was Jan 11, but the date on the transaction was 2001 -2011.  Has anyone run into this issue
