New Vendor not available in dropdown

I am having an odd issue. I am new to NS and am starting to enter transactions.  When I set up a new vendor (or customer, or employee), it doesn't seem to want to make that entitity available in any of the name drop downs right away.  I have even tried logging off and back on and they are still not showing.  Is there something I can do to make is so the drop down boxes refresh immediately?
