Federal Excise Tax
Starting Jan 1, we are required to remit a federal excise tax on all medical goods sold (which is pretty much everything we sell).
After contacting Netsuite, their advice was to create a new tax type and apply that to the tax codes. However, we have over 1,900 tax codes in the six states where we currently have a nexus and we need to charge the federal tax even in states where we do not have to collect sales tax.
Netsuite's solution thus far would be to manually change the 1,900 codes or do a separate Item->Charge that would calculate 2.3%. I don't like the Item idea since it is putting the responsibility on the sales order entry person and I am worried about audit accountability.
