Transaction Insert error

Today we are unable to post transactions without receiving a
'Insert Transaction Failure: No valid, open, tax period for date - 19/4/2013. Please visit Setup > Manage Tax Periods to set up a new tax period.'

All our base accounting and tax periods are fine.  Another UK user has reported the same issue today.

Any insights appreciated.
