Rate in Item Groups

Is it possible to create a transaction column that would reflect the rate (price/quantity) in NS?  I create a column and attempted to write a formula inside the item column as {price}/{quantity}, but that did not work. For our purposes we need to have the rate in our estimates/sales orders.  Thanks!
