Manufacturing Work Order Issue Serial number change after period close

edited May 17, 2017 6:20PM in Accounting / ERP 1 comment

Hi...We have a challenge were in the serial number of one the part in the BOM changes for various reasons after the transaction has been posted successfully within a period.
One of the scenario -
- Work Order issue and completion done in April'17
- Serial number for one of the part in the BOM has to be changed on May11th, 17
- currently, we have to open up the period so that users can go in and change the serial number (which is not a best practice from compliance stand point)

my question is there a way to change the serial number for one of the part without opening the closed period provided the price of the part remains same (ie., or if the price changes due to moving average) and without impacting the GL account. Thanks in advance
