How do I change an amortization method?

in Accounting / ERP

We are changing our amortization method from straight-line by day to straight-line by month. I have changed the underlying templates for future prepaids but cannot change existing amortization schedules (saves but does not keep the change). I could change the future periods manually, but that is a cumbersome option. Is there a way to import changes to existing amortization schedule amounts, or get the system to calculate the new amounts?
