Amortization Schedules

Is there a way to edit an amortization schedule if there are posted journal entries relating to it?

I feel like once the amortization journal entries are posted, it is very difficult to fix. We would very much like to edit the template on the schedule and/or the expense account so going forward the correct JEs are posted.
