Can I import invoice transactions linking to Item ID instead of Item Name?

I'm getting a "Invalid item reference key" error message when I'm trying to import invoice transactions, the error message goes away when I create a test file with a few records with Item Name instead of Item Internal ID.  I didn't see "Item ID" in the mapping options, only "Item (Req)".  Certainly there is a way to import based on internal ID?  Thanks
