How do I hide the Price Level and Rate

when employees enter their time to a project they are able to see what the billing rate is for the project they are working on.  I want to hide that field so they cannot see the rate.  When I go to customize the timesheet the "Rate" field box is checked and shaded so I am unable to change this.  How do I hide the rate?
