A/R and A/P Reports

When I run the reports and change the date and hit refresh it is not changing the date on the backend.  I have to manually go in and customize and change the date in there.  Anyone know what could have happened? 

For example when I enter in Dec. 31, 2010 it still pulls from today and the report is starting with a current balance at zero instead of the balance it was at at the end of December.

Any idea how I can fix this?
