Eliminating Emailing HTML Templates - Invoices/Cash Sales

Is there a way to guarantee that HTML template are not sent? Can they be disable by form?

We have a few formula fields that because they are formula fields they need to see other fields on the page, but in our PDF we hide those source fields and show only the formula fields. The issue is that with HTML those source fields are not hidden!

We need a way (other than telling everyone to choose PDF as under their preferences) to guarantee that HTML documents are not sent (at least for certain forms, aka SO, Inv, Cash sale, Est).
