Prevent Memo field from printing on Checks

I have tried everything I know to do and still I get memo fields printed on checks...

I've unchecked the box on the "Printable" tab of the custom Bill payments form
I've hidden the memo field on the custom check template

Any ideas?  Anyone else solve this problem for themselves?
