Stopping a revenue commitment from recognizing revenue?
We are a SAAS company and currently use sales orders for annual contracts that are invoiced monthly. We use revenue commitments as revenue is recognized on a daily basis. There are times when, let's say three months into the annual contract, it terminates. Currently, we use a return auth/revenue reversals to back out the revenue for the remaining seven future periods. This doesn't quite work as we don't want to use return authorizations (we have no products) and the revenue reversal never quite matches the revenue commitment.
