Enter Coupon Code on Cash Sale

We created some promotions within NS. When we create an cash sale the user has to click the on the promotion sub tab to select any of the promotions. We like to know if there is a way the user can enter a coupon code instead while entering items? We like to keep it straight forward without the need for the user to click around on the sub tabs.
