Custom Code to Copy Line Items to Custom Body Field

I am working with a new script to copy line item names to a custom body filed so that we can see the item name in a custom transaction search using the "Status" Item Fullfillment: Picked, Item Fullfillment: Packed, Item Fullfillment: Shipped. We need to be able to see the item name being ordered in each of the fullfillment screens as a column.
I have gotten the script to work by attaching it to our sales order forms. It works fine when manually entering orders in the back end but I can't get it to work with our "custom sales order - cash sale" from within the web store. The only way to get the field to copy is to edit the order then it runs the script and copies the filed, which is good but we need to be able to see them on the fly without having to edit each order to iniciate the script.
