Sending emails with attachments from scheduled scripts

Hi,

Is it possible to send emails with attachments from scheduled scripts? We would like to be able to generate PDFs of all invoices created on a given day and then email these to customers attached to a custom message. If the invoice then goes overdue at a subsequent date we want to send a reminder with a copy of the PDF invoice attached.

At present we cannot see any indication that such functionality is included and so any suggestions on how this might be achieved would be most welcome.
