How to pass parameter using nlapiSetRedirectURL

I am trying to redirect the user to customer record that is using a custom form..I am using the folllowing code

params['cf'] = 33;

// or

params['custparamcf'] = 33;

// or

params[0] = '&cf=33';

nlapiSetRedirectURL('RECORD','customer',1676,true,params);

None of these variations are working..can anyone help me. Has anyone tried this and got it to work.
