Total Orders-Passing Order Count to a field

Hi All,
thanks in advanced to for your help.

I'm new to NetSuite scripting.  Please help me accomplish the following:

I would like to have a field on the customer screen that will be populated with the "total number of orders" (for us it's Invoices+Cash Sales), as part of it, whenever we add an invoice or a cash sale I would like to add a 1 to that count.

I assume it shouldn't be too hard, any help would be greatly appreciated.
