Scripting the participant tab on a phone call

Here's the situation: I have numerous (read: hundreds of thousands) records that we are deduping. For obvious reasons we are not using the NS mass merging as this would take a lifetime.

So the goal is to take all of the activities against a 'duplicate' contact and reassign them to what we have deemed the 'primary' contact. I have that part done. I'm able to reassign the records no problem, but the phone calls are not showing on the primary contact record, or it's associated company record. Found out that this is due to the participant tab on the phone call - it is still retaining the old duplicate contact. Now if I delete the dupe contact, the record
