CustomerPayment Declined Exception

I am charging a customer payment via suitescript and not receiving a helpful error when the payment is declined.

Everything works fine, except when a payment is declined, rather than getting the reason such as "Credit Card is expired" that I see in the ui, this causes an unhandled exception below:

Is this a bug? I expect to see the more helpful error.
