Custom Portlet height issue

All of a sudden my custom portlet is twice the height. It has a single button "Search" then 5 input fields underneath it. Then it has an equal amount of white space (equal to all the aforementioned elements)..

I tried clicking refresh but it does not reduce the space. This just happened in the last day or two (without any changes in code on our end).

Any one experiencing this problem?
