AttachRecord works through UI but not through Script

So A little back scenario, we are tracking custom orders that users send us including spec sheets that need to be passed to production. So, so far no problem. The problem is that the attach record works perfectly in the UI but complains about attaching to any custom record forwards or backwards in any case via script. This is a deal break since we have several other projects we'd like to move forward with. I can attach code is necessary.
