Replace Value of Field with Value from Another Field

Since Netsuite does not have option to create Assembly items as Matrix items I am trying to create a workaround that will allow us to show matrix items on our website but convert that item to an an assembly item once the order is created so that it is processed with a work order as an assembly item.

For example:
I have a Matrix item with a number of 9999: 9999-32-long-red black. On our web store it allows me to show all the available options in a drop down menu.
I created an assembly item with the same number 9999-32-long-red-black
