Implementing Scriptable Cart

Has anyone successfully implemented the scriptable cart. We have a bunch of client scripts on a sales order and I would like to trigger these on my website.

How would this work? If I called the SuiteCommerce API additem on an order, would that trigger the validate line event? Would I be able to return message to my customer on my website from the cart?
