Auto-populate custom entity field on customer record

I created a saved search that finds the total revenue minus taxes, shipping and credits for each of our customers. The search appears to be calculating correctly, but I cannot figure out how to get the respective results to show in the custom entity field. I believe I cannot use a Workflow because it is an entity field. Mass Update did not work for me as well. Is scripting the answer? Thanking you in advance for your assistance.
