Closing Multiple Purchase Orders with Script

We are trying to change all of our Purchase Orders that are currently in Pending Bill status to the Closed status. What is the quickest way to do this?

We've tried changing the document status with nlapiSubmitField, but the order just changes to Pending Receipt and then immediately changes back to Pending Bill.
