Are there scripts running?

Can anyone tell me how a non-scripter (such as myself) can safely determine if there are scripts running when I'm performing a specific task?

From what I gather, scripts can be attached to forms, records, etc.

So, for example, if I'm entering a Sales Order with a specific form is there an easy way for me to determine if scripts are coming into play relative to that form, the records being accessed, etc.?

Assuming I can identify any scripts running, can I then determine who wrote or deployed them (so I know who to ask about their functionality)?
