nlapiCreateRecord - Performance issue (>1min to perform create record)

Hello,
In one of our customers' account, we are spending 1 min to perform a "nlapiCreateRecord". The number of create records we need to perform is more than 5000 in one script. We are using nlapiYieldScript to queue the process but the amount of time to perform the whole process is taking so long.
Has anyone experience the same?
