Client Script on Assembly Item

I'm not sure if this is intended or not, but I'm not able to deploy a client script on an assembly item (Lot Numbered Assembly Item, in particular).

I'm able to deploy a user event script just fine, "Applies To" is set to "Lot Numbered Assembly/Bill of Materials", but I do not see that option when attempting to deploy a client script.

Any thoughts? Right now my workaround is to create a workflow, which isn't ideal, since I'd like my "New Item Setup" script be a single source for all item types.
