nlapiGetRecordID() on matrix item afterSubmit not working

Hi,

im hoping someone might be able to help me in getting the internal ID for a matrix item after it has been created.

currently using nlapiGetRecordID() on an afterSubmit event and in all records its returning nicely, however in matrix items it doesnt appear to return anything.

is there any way I can do this easily?
