Scripting the Create New menu?

I'd like to script the "Create New" menu in customer records so that some customers have Sales Order in the menu and others do not. I've already created a checkbox in the customer record to denote which ones get it and which ones don't but need to find a way to prevent users creating sales orders from the customer record.
