Custom Approval Script causing errors in Web Store

We used a third party developer to create a custom approval workflow for us based upon our requirements at the time. Since then, I have created and customized a web store for our organization to use that is going live this month. We have found that when we enabled the Scriptable cart and checkout ( Setup > Site Builder > Set up Web Site) and per line taxes on transactions feature (Setup > Accounting > Set up Taxes) (we need these two features enabled so that tax can be calculated on all web orders), something in the approval workflow script
