Increase Items displayed on one page in Category from 48 to 60

Hello All

We would like to increase the amount of items displayed per page from 48 (which we have currently) to 60.  Do you know of a way to do this or can you refer me to a developer who can?

We want to avoid pagination as much as possible here for our categories to avoid any canonicalization issues.
