External catalog really slow :(

Hi,

I'm in the process of integrating the NS shopping cart/checkout/addtocart buttons/prices to our current e-commerce software. I've only gotten to the shopping cart page and it is already really slow.

I put a test link to the shopping cart on a hidden category for our site and it takes about 5-8 seconds to fully load where our current cart loads instantly.

Are there any tips or tricks out there to speed up the loading times?
