External catalog site - redirect after logging in not what I want

We have an external catalog site. When a user clicks "Checkout" they are prompted to log in or create an account. However, after they log in, they are not redirected to the next step in the checkout process; they are redirected to the home page of our site.

I looked at our Web Site Setup and noticed that there is an "External" tab where there is an option to set the "URL to go to after login/registration is complete" and it is set to our home page, so that is why it is happening. My question is, what URL should I set it to to get it to redirect to the "next step" in the checkout after a user logs in / registers?
