Help with item templates

We want a table with no gaps with one item in each cell.

Like the bottom half of this web page...

I am using layouts that are set to use templates.  I made a "category list template" and a "category list cell template" and I can get close, but I can't get it to be gapless like the table on the buy.com page.

I can set each item as a table and set border="1" in my "category list cell template", but then I get a bunch of outlined cells that are each separated by a gap.
