Remove Content Area Template from Checkout

Our Content Area Template from our theme is making some links show in the My Account and checkout sections of the store. However, these links contain parameters that do not work from the My Account and checkout pages.

How can we remove this part of the content area template from those pages only and still leave it in the rest of the site?

I know that the answer will likely be using javascript in a custom tag that is applied to the Checkout and My Account tabs; however, I don't know where to begin with the javascript...
