two-way comm between ext website and NetSuite

Hello, I am working on an integration project between an external website and NetSuite provided data and I am considering the design and how exactly this would be performed.

One field of data will need to pass-through to NetSuite so that record results can be generated and returned back to the web-site. The website is not hosted in NetSuite - it is external ie. 3rd party and the idea is to keep ONE database of record information. No syncing of databases or anything like that!

My thoughts:

- Pass variable from external web-server to script running on NetSuite
- Netsuite script runs query and produce record results
