hide navigation on welcome page

I am using NLSITENAVIGATIONHTML in the Left Side Navigation Template, and I have navigation set to show only the current tab. This works the way I want on subtabs, but not on the home page. On the home page the Navigation menu still shows up saying Home. How can I hide this on the home page but keep it on the other pages? I tried un-checking "Display in Web Site", and that successfully hides the tab, but the left navigation still says Home when I am on that page.
