External SSP Application

Hi

I have recently started using Netsuite within the last month, and have been extensively reading through the documentation. I have successfully setup a eCommerce website with all the default layout and design. However, I am looking to implement Custom ShopFlow, My Account and so forth as External SSP Applications as recommended in the documentation. However, the issue with when it comes to editing the Reference Implementation index.ssp to link to the external SSP Application. Now, the index.ssp file is locked by default correct? Is there a way to edit this? Am I reading the documentation wrong or do I need
