Lead Date Skewing Lead Source Reports

Hello there,
We're having an issue with the Lead Date on our Lead Source reports. When someone changes the Lead Status on a Lead to another Lead Status, it shows up on the report (even though the Lead Source is from an older campaign). When I read the NetSuite help guide, it says that the Lead Date is populated with the date the record enters Lead stage. I'm not sure why it would appear on the report then.
