Unable to Delete Customer Record

We have a custom record that records all login's and it is populated via webservices.  There's a dozen or so custom fields on this record that are all free form text except one which is date/time.

A few of these fields record e-mail, company name etc. that are of course from the contact and customer records.  They are not linked in any way as they are all free from text fields on the custom record.

Now my problem is that I want to maintain the custom records while at the same time when cleaning up our NS customer base delete customer records.
