'List' type sublists

Good afternoon.

Is there a way to add "List" type sublists through the UI with Custom Records, or would I need to completely script the entire functionality using SuiteScript.

I am trying to create a table on the our item records that is similar to the locations list -- one where there is a master list of records, and detailed data records joined against them specific for that item.
