Simple Custom Record application question

I need to create a custom record to be used on an item record.  The field is a UNSPSC Code (which is a global classification of products and services).  There are 114 (some may be added or taken away later) records.  Each item needs to be assigned to a specific code.

I have a created a record with the Code and the description (only 2 fields).  I would like to be able to have the user select the code by description or just type in the code.

How do I make the description, and not the code come up in the list box?
