Service Requests in NetSuite

Has anyone successfully implemented a service request system within NetSuite? For us this includes equipment, application and access requests for internal employees. There will need to be approval workflows etc. but mostly curious as to if Fixed Asset Management, Cases or Custom Records can accomplish this. Any suiteapp recommendations are welcome too. Any suggestions are most appreciated!
