How can I Auto create a custom record from a Sales Order that has a Specific item purchased.

Hello community,

My company want to start selling service plan to our customer. I created a Custom Record ("Service Plan") to record the data. Similar to a warranty registration record. I want the Service Plan record to be auto generated when the service plan item is purchased through a Sales Order. What's the best way to accomplish this? Any assistance will help!
