Transaction Date ID

Can anyone tell me what the field id is for the date of a transaction.  I'm tearing my hair out!  I have a custom field that i'm trying to return a text representation of the month part of the transaction date.

I am trying DATENAME(MONTH,{date}) but i get a Error: Field Not Found.

I have tried {date}, {trandate}, {transdate} but can't get it to work.

HELP!

Also, is there an easy way to get a list of the IDs for all the standard fields so i can find what the ID is?
