Calculate In Field

I'd like to be able to do a calculation within the UNIT PRICE field for a given item - on a Purchase Orders / Sales Order etc.

Currently my form has these main fields which affect final price
- QTY
- UNIT PRICE
- TAX CATEGORY
- AMOUNT  (QTY x UNIT PRICE)
- GROSS AMOUNT  (AMOUNT x TAX %)

Within the forms, I can do calculations with the AMOUNT and GROSS AMOUNT fields. E.g. I can enter 100*1.1, hit tab, and the field updates to 110.

However, within the UNIT PRICE field this does not work.

Does anyone know how I could get this to work as I wish?
