Transaction Column Field Formula Not Calculating

I am working on creating some new custom cost column fields for our quote forms.  One is Internal Unit Cost and the other is the Internal Extended Cost.  I would like for my users to fill in unit cost themselves and the extended cost would be calculated for the.  Simple formula in my eyes.  {custcol_revised_unit_cost}*{quantity}  For some reason when I enter the unit costs on the line items, the extended cost column does not calculate.  No error is displayed.  I know I'm missing one small thing to make this work but I cannot find it for the life of me.
